The creation of the European Cooperation Network for “orphan” heart diesease

Prioryty 8. Interregional cooperation.
Activity 8.2. Building position of the Malopolska voivodeship in European Cooperation Networks.
The project have been co-funded according to The Malopolska Regional Operational Programme on years from 2007 to 2013.

Total costs of the Project: 1 820 943,83 PLN
Co-founded costs: 1 537 276,00 PLN
Realization period: The 1st April of 2011 to 30th September 2013

Partners of the Project:

Latvian Centre of Cardiology, Pauls Stradins University Hospital, Riga
Lithuanian University of Medical Sciences, Kaunas

Activities that have been realized:

  • establishing and maintaining a website about “orphan” heart disease and expert articles from cardiology publishing;
  • development of remote medical consulting system TeleDICOM consisting of additional functions; this modalities give the chance for meeting experts and beneficiaries of the project in each quartal period on the multimedial platform;
  • buying equipment for video conferance witch take place in each quartal period during the meeting as above (on the internet platform with multimedial transfer);
    quartal period meeting beneficiaries and experts from partners centres on the internet platform with multimedial transfer;
  • organizing of annual, direct, meetings beneficiaries and partners of the projects during conventions of the European Society of Cardiology;
    mounthly probations in reputable european (medical) centers;
  • beneficiary meetings in local centers in Malopolska every semi year;
  • participate beneficiaries and partners of the project in “orphan” heart disease conference;
  • publishing the results of the project as a script describing cases which was examination during project;
  • organize of the international conference about “orphan” heart disease.

Aims of the project was:

  • to get higher competitive of Malopolska as an european advanced center diagnosis and treatment of “orphan” heart disease;
  • joint initiatives in the Central and Estern Europe;
  • equal opportunities in access to diagnostic and treatmant of “orphan” heart disease for patients from Malopolska and the others countries in Europe;
  • the creation and coordination regional network of cooperation with Cardiology Centers in Malopolska and in the Europe;
  • using experiences from partners’ centers for diagnosis and treatment of patients with congenital heart disease after cardiac surgery intervention;
  • the creation new, innovative solutions and elaborating diagnostic algorithms and treatment by using the newest methods;
  • getting clinical experiences during probations in external centers in the field of treating patients with “orphan” heart disease;
  • conducting highly advanced clinical probations in our Center in the field of diagnosis and therapy of “orphan” heart disease;
  • the creation of proper registers and coordination teams for “orphan” heart disease;
  • dissemination of knowledge about “orphan” heart disease and promotion results of the projects.
