Background Heparin induced thrombocytopenia type II (HIT-II) is immune-mediated disorder with life-threatening prothrombotic complications. HIT-II is caused by formation of antibodies which activate the platelets following heparin administration [1]. The incidence of HIT-II is lower in pregnant than in nonpregnant women [2].
